Planned Giving - Wills

A bequest left to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation in a will is a popular way of leaving a legacy to improve healthcare. It ensures that medical professionals at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital have the best equipment they need to provide life saving care now and in the future. Each and every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference. You can also significantly reduce the taxes paid by your estate by including the Moose Jaw Health Foundation in your will.

You may designate your gift to a specific area or piece of equipment within the hospital or to the area of greatest medical equipment need as determined by the Foundation and the Saskatchewan Health Authority.

How it works

There are several different types of bequests, so it's a good idea to seek the advice of a legal or financial advisor in helping you determine the most appropriate type of bequest for you.

They will also help you to review your assets and liabilities and prepare a will.

Most common types:

Specific bequest: A gift of a specific sum of money or property such as real estate, securities or other items. Generally, the property will be sold and the proceeds, less appraisals and selling costs, will be applied per the terms of your bequest.

Residual bequest: A gift of all, or a percentage of, what remains of your estate after payment of debts, taxes and other bequests will be made to the Foundation.

Life-tenant bequest: A gift of all or a percentage of your estate to a Life Tenant - a specific person (or people) who will receive income from your estate during their lifetime. Upon that person's death, the Moose Jaw Health Foundation would receive a bequest (a specific amount or a residual amount).

Be sure to notify the Foundation when you are planning to make a bequest. All donors who have included the Foundation in their will, or estate plan, are invited to become members of the Heritage Society. It's our way of recognizing a future gift within a person's lifetime.

Please be sure to have your legal and financial professional use our correct legal name The Moose Jaw Health Foundation Inc. and our charitable number 11982-9173-RR0001.
