Cardiac and Stroke Campaign 2012
Life can change in a heartbeat, and when it does the caring medical professionals at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital need your help to equip the hospital of today and the hospital of tomorrow with cutting-edge cardiac equipment to save the lives of patients suffering a heart attack or stroke.
Did You Know?
- Heart disease and stroke is the number one killer of men and women in Saskatchewan.
- Nearly 3,000 people in Saskatchewan die every year from heart attacks and strokes.
- In Canada there are 70,000 heart attacks, 50,000 strokes and 45,000 cardiac arrests each year.
Most heart attacks and strokes are preventable, but when they do happen, medical professionals at our hospital need to have the best equipment available to save the lives of patients. With your help, the Moose Jaw Health Foundation will be able to provide the skilled medical teams with combination oxygen & vital signs monitors (43 new monitors at $4,700 each) to provide instant information about a patient’s body temperature, pulse rate, respiration rate, blood pressure and blood oxygen saturation; defibrillators (2 defibrillators at $20,000 each) are urgently needed to help medical teams restart a patient’s heart when it stops; cardiac monitors (4 cardiac monitors at $7,000 each) provide medical teams with instant access to even a tiny change to a patient’s heart 24 hours of the day; a state-of-the-art hypothermia system ($20,000) to rapidly liquid cool the body to improve survival and neurological outcomes of cardiac and stroke patients; ruby blood analyzer ($80,000) to detect the smallest change in the blood to identify potential health challenges, and many more life saving pieces of medical equipment.
The need is growing - the number of heart attacks treated at our hospital has increased substantially the last three years. Chances are your life or someone you care about has been affected by heart attack or stroke. The Moose Jaw Health Foundation needs your help to raise over $600,000 for life saving cardiac and stroke equipment.
Every piece of life saving cardiac equipment purchased will be used today to help patients at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital and then transferred to the new hospital when it opens. By donating to the Radiothon, you are helping equip the hospital of today and the hospital of tomorrow.
Every donation, no matter what the size, makes a difference and is appreciated. Please give in a heartbeat and show that you care. If you would like to help today, please click here.
