Labour & Delivery Equipment

In case you haven’t heard, there is a baby boom at Moose Jaw Union Hospital.  The dedicated staff of the Women’s Health Unit delivered more than 550 babies last year.  While a growing community is good news, unfortunately the passage of time and the increasing amount of use have taken a toll on medical equipment. Because of the support of Moose Jaw Health Foundation donors health professionals can now take advantage of modern advances in prenatal and maternal care.

New isolettes are helping newborns that require special care and treatments.  Cutting edge fetal heart monitors detect the slightest changes for both mom and baby during birth.  New birthing beds for the mom’s comfort and infant warmers to provide soothing heat for the baby.  All of this new equipment will help caring medical professionals to significantly enhance the level of care provided for new moms and babies.

The Women’s Health Unit is an excellent facility staffed by a dedicated team of doctors, nurses and medical staff.  They use their specialized skills and expertise to deliver babies from across the Five Hills Health Region.  And they do their best to bring every baby into the world in safety and comfort.

The birth of a new child is one of the most wonderful experiences in life, but sometimes complications can occur.  Foundation donors have made possible the purchase of Panda Beds.  Panda beds are the most baby friendly, micro environments available today.  They utilize a state-of-the-art design to create an unsurpassed warm, healing environment that is especially important for babies who need extra special care or emergency intervention - when every second counts.  This new technology has been made possible with Foundation donor support.

Every donation, no matter what the size, makes a difference and is appreciated.  There is always need for more life saving equipment for patients.  If you still would like to contribute to help in the purchase of new labour and delivery equipment, please click here.  For more information on how you, your organization or company can create another success story at our local hospital, please contact Kelly McElree, Executive Director of the Moose Jaw Health Foundation at 694-0255 or kmcelree@fhhr.ca.
