Our Donors – Doug Shepherd

I was sitting at his desk writing a sermon for a funeral when I began to perspire.  I thought it was just indigestion, and got ready to deliver my sermon.  As I crossed Main Street, I felt worse and took some medicine and dismissed the symptoms.

A week later I headed to Regina to pick-up my wife from the airport and thought I was going to pass out.  I took some medication, but it did not help.  When I made it home, I went to bed and woke up suddenly at 2:00 a.m. with chest pains.  My wife made me go to the hospital.

When we arrived at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital Emergency Room, the nurse took one look at me and said “you’re having a heart attack”, and the medical team sprang into action.  Within minutes, Dr. Majhid and five health care professionals raced to save my life.  While fear over took me, the medical team reassured me that everything was going to be okay.  They believed I would pull through.

Hours later, I woke up in the Intensive Care Unit of the Moose Jaw Union Hospital with a vast array of tubes attached to his body.  I was so impressed with the professionalism, knowledge of the staff and the care they showed me.  I received 24 hour continuous care from an outstanding critical care team.

I believe it is important for everyone to support the new Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital, so when life changes in a heartbeat, the medical staff will have the equipment they need to help save a life.  Please support the Moose Jaw Health Foundation.
