Gifts at Work - Respiratory Therapy
A few moments can make the difference in the life of a critically ill patient. To pull a patient back, when all hope seems lost, takes incredible expertise by medical teams at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital. Cardiopulmonary services work throughout our hospital assisting medical teams helping patients of all ages.
“As a respiratory therapist, I recognize the urgent need to replace aging equipment with modern, state-of-the-art cardio and respiratory tools. Through the support of Moose Jaw Health Foundation donors we have some of the best new equipment available. Thank you for caring.”
Deign Salido – Respiratory Therapist
Cardiopulmonary Services at our community hospital are used to assist patient’s following major surgery, major trauma or during a critical illness; and help medical teams assess patients to determine the best form of treatment.
Cardiopulmonary Services include both respiratory therapy and electrocardiology. Respiratory equipment assists the physician in the diagnosis, treatment, management, and care of patients with cardio-respiratory and other associated disorders. Electrocardiology involves the non invasive testing and monitoring of the functioning of the human heart under various conditions. Cardiac medical equipment provides test results and initial analysis to a physician for use in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiac disease.
Only with the generosity of donors has the hospital been able to replace cardiopulmonary equipment such as: critical care ventilators to help assist patients breathing when they can no longer do it on their own; Holter Monitoring Systems used to detect irregular heartbeats and coronary disease, pulmonary function machines used to diagnose asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, fibrosis and other lung conditions; and many more life saving pieces of medical equipment.
Each year Foundation donors save and enhance lives through their gifts. Every donation makes a difference.
