Reasons to Give - Operating Rooms
Life can change in a moment. Imagine you or someone you care about requires immediate surgery. When life hangs by a precious thread – every second counts. Thankfully, the highly trained operating room teams at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital are there for you, and those you care about. Now because of Foundation donors they have the best surgical equipment in Canada.
Every year over 6,000 surgeries are performed at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital. Surgical procedures range from cataract and orthopaedic procedures to complex cancer surgeries. The old surgical equipment was well beyond its useful life and was constantly breaking down. Without donor support for new surgical equipment the hospital would not have able to perform complex surgeries, forcing many patients and their families to travel to Regina or Saskatoon for treatment. Without the latest equipment, the recruitment and retention of the best surgeons and nurses would have been made even more difficult.
The Moose Jaw Health Foundation donors raised over $615,000 for new surgical equipment to keep this essential medical service close to home. New equipment purchased included new surgical lighting, operating room tables, surgical ultrasound unit, argon surgical laser, non-invasive ventilator, anaesthetic machine, and many more lifesaving pieces of surgical equipment.
Every donation, no matter what the size, makes a difference and is appreciated. There is always need for more life saving equipment for patients.
